Romania to give Moldova 15 million euros for environmental, climate change projects

RO-MDRomania will back environmental projects in Moldova meant to cut greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate changes. To this end, the neighbour state will earmark 15 million euros out of 100 million euros, provided as non-refundable financial support under an agreement the Romanian and Moldovan governments signed in Bucharest on 27 April 2010.

The Moldovan Environment Ministry said this is stipulated in the Moldovan-Romanian inter-ministerial joint declaration on the development and implementation of projects in the field of ozone layer protection and combating climate changes, signed by the sides in Iasi, Romania, on 3 March 2012. An additional protocol on the amendment of the agreement is to be signed on the basis of this declaration.

The authorities in charge of coordinating the implementation of the agreement and additional protocol for projects of environmental protection and climate change are the Environment Ministry of Moldova and the Environment and Forests Ministry from Romania.
