SELEC/SECI international law enforcement agencies meeting in Chisinau

SECIOn November 1 – 2 2011, in Chisinau, takes place the 18th International Meeting of the Working Group “MIRAGE”. The aim of the group is to enhance the cooperation in fighting against traffic of human beings and illegal migration. The opening ceremony was assisted by Iurie Cheptanaru, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, chief of the Police Department of MIA, Valeriu Hîncu, director of the Center for Combating Trafficking in Persons, and Liviu Prodan, director of Bureau for Migration and Asylum.
The meeting is attended by representatives of Police and Attorney authorities of SELEC and SECI member states (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Slovenia and Turkey) and representatives of observer states (Austria, Azerbaijan, Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Ukraine, Spain and US).
The initiative to organize the meeting was taken by the Moldovan delegation within the previous session of the Working Group, help in 2010 in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The working group „MIRAGE” was created in 2002 within the Regional Centre SECI, in charge for fighting transnational crimes. The permanent office of the Centre is located in Bucharest, Romania, according to the unanimous decision of 12 member states.
At the moment, the Regional Centre SECI is organized in SELEC (South East Law Enforcement Center) and started its activity in October 7th 2011, comprising 10 member states (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Slovenia and Turkey).
