Associations from NPC will participate in Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum

In Poznan, Poland on November 28th – December 1st 2011, will take place the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum. A group of twenty-three Moldovan NGOs will participate in the Forum: Regional Centre for Environmental Studies "ECOS"; TI National Chapter of Transparency International Moldova; The Association of Ecotoxicologists of Moldova ECOTOX; Pro Community Centre; Independent Journalism Center (IJC); Foreign Policy Association of Moldova (APE); Regional Environmental Center Moldova (REC Moldova); Women's Association for the Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development; the Ecological Movement of Moldova (EMM); Institute for Urban Development; Ecological Counseling Center Transportation (ECC CAHUL); Association NATURE AVE; Congress of Local Authorities from Moldova (CALM); Cross-Border Cooperation and European Integration Agency (ACTI); Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDIS); East Europe Foundation - Moldova (EEFM); Association of Independent Press (API); Center for Economic Development and Public Affairs (CEDPA); Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT; Association of Small Business of the Republic of Moldova; Resources Centre "Young and Free"; Promo-LEX Association; National Youth Council of Moldova (CNTM).
Speaking about the background of this event, it is relevant to mention that in his speech to the European Parliament (2008), the European Commission stressed that "reforms (in the Eastern Partnership) require the active participation of civil society in order to strengthen supervision of public services and public confidence."
Commission proposed "to support further development of civil society organizations (CSOs) and in particular to form a Civil Society Forum (CSF) of the Eastern Partnership to promote networking among civil society organizations to facilitate their dialogue with government authorities." The Civil Society Forum CSF was approved in May 2009, during the summit in Prague and in June 2009, all interested parties were invited to submit applications of interest to attend first Forum of civil society. The forum was attended by more than 200 NGOs.
